About

My Story

Hi, I’m Eleanore, my service dog is Jinkx, and this is Service Dog Living.

Jinkx is actually my second partner. That means I’ve lived the service dog life for years—long enough to know that it’s not just about working tasks or public access laws. It’s about the day-to-day reality: managing a medical condition, navigating the world with a teammate, and planning for everything from long car rides to waiting rooms to coffee shops. It’s packing extra supplies just in case, anticipating challenges before they happen, and celebrating the small wins—like a stress-free errand or finding moments of calm in the chaos.

When I started this blog, I wanted to create the kind of resource I wish I had in the beginning: practical, personal, and honest. A place where real-life challenges are acknowledged, and useful tips come from experience, not just theory. From routines that make outings smoother to unexpected things you learn along the way (like how important a yoga mat can be), Service Dog Living is a hub for handlers who want to feel seen, supported, and set up for success. Whether you’re navigating your first steps with a service dog or adapting as your team changes, this space is here to share stories, advice, and encouragement to help you thrive every day.

Whether you’re just starting your journey, working with your second or third dog, or figuring it out one errand at a time, you’re in the right place.

Why I Started Service Dog Living

Service Dog Living started from my personal experience as a handler navigating daily challenges, searching for trustworthy advice, and connecting with like-minded individuals. My goal is to create a welcoming space where everyone can find reliable information, support, and encouragement.
